This Death Investigation Training seminar is being hosted by the Estes Park Police Department and the University of Colorado Police Department. The training will be held at the University of Colorado Engineering Center located at 1111 Engineering Drive Room 151 Boulder, CO. 80309.
Tuition for the four day 32 hour course is $395.00. The tuition cost includes a laboratory manual. The instructor is Jonathyn Priest. Course hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The purpose of the course is:
Students will experience and observe a variety of methods used to determine the type of death scene, identify modes and manners of death, how to conduct effective crime scene evaluations, and techniques for evidence identification and collection. Additionally, students will receive training in the area of crime scene processing, critical incident investigations, and initial interviewing techniques.
The techniques utilized in this training will coach students in the use of sound and proven investigative protocols as well as prepare them for understanding specialized techniques. The nature of this course is to enhance the skill levels of first responders and seasoned investigators in the recognition, management, and processing stages of the investigation.
This course provides an overview of basic, intermediate, and advanced theory for investigators, supervisors, and commanders responsible for the investigation of homicide, suicide, and equivocal death incidents.
